The Lunar New Year ushers in one of the most important and popular holidays in China, and most businesses have gone on break to join in the festivities, including tech company Xiaomi. Xiaomi has the temporary halt in its HyperOS updates until February 16, 2024, due to the Chinese New Year holiday.
What is the Chinese New Year?
The Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, is a time of family reunions, cultural traditions, and celebrations. It is a public holiday in China, and most companies, including Xiaomi, go into temporary shutdowns to allow employees to spend time with their families and join in the festivities. This year, the holiday period has led Xiaomi to delay its planned HyperOS updates, which are eagerly awaited by users of its devices.
What is Xiaomi HyperOS?
The much-awaited Xiaomi HyperOS, the operating system update, will boost the performance, user experience, and connectivity of the devices offered by the company. It ensures more system stability, a faster processing speed, and new features to achieve the goal of presenting a seamless ecosystem with Xiaomi. But the company has decided to give priority to the well-being of its employees in this important cultural holiday and hence has taken a temporary halt in software updates.
Why the delay in Updates?
The Chinese New Year is that one week in which millions of people migrate through the country to reunite with their families. This, for businesses, usually means reduced productivity and a halt in operations. That Xiaomi has decided to stop updates during this period just goes to show respect for cultural traditions and how much the company cares about a healthy balance between work and personal life.
What does this mean for Xiaomi users?
Although this may be a disappointment for some users awaiting the HyperOS update, it does remind one of cultural celebrations and how those innovations come from human beings. Anxious users have been advised to stay tuned for further announcements, while Xiaomi has sworn to deliver the updates immediately after the holiday.
To put it in a nutshell, Xiaomi stopped the HyperOS updates for the time being due to the Chinese New Year holiday, and they are going to restart on February 16. It proves how hard the company focuses on employees, culture, and traditions. At the same time, it gives a spark to users concerning upcoming changes in the operating system. After the celebrations end and Xiaomi returns to working at full capacity, users should expect a new wave of updates.
🤢🤮🤮The ugliest company in history
HyperOS2 has totally ruined my Redmi Note 13. The whole system has become laggy, with the Control Centre slow to drop down and the volume control almost unusable. They know about this issue, but claim it only affects the Note Pro + 5G. Let me make it clear now, that that is wrong!
I want to roll back to MiUi, but it seems there is no way of doing that.
When will Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G get an update? It has been stuck on version 1.0.4.0 for months and has not received an update. Xiaomi is regretful 🤮

I once loved redmi phones and wanted to buy another Xiaomi again after my current redmi 13c retires… BUT not anymore. No damn way. Redmi has been ignoring the low budget phones in the hyperOS updates and they just rollout the laggy android updates instead of updating something useful… hyperOS 1.0.1 was fine, it was Android 14 but it ran well… hyperOS 2.0.2.0 for my redmi 13c HAS NOTHING new just like the hyperOS versions that are made for flagship phones … but its super laggy now
not 13 pro plus 5g???????????
Fully agree with Geoff. I have two devices one HyperOS 1.13, and the other HyperOS 2.1.
HyperOS 2.1 lags all the time even freezes the tablet, since buying the tablet I had to reboot very seldom, now, the tablet freezes, touch control is lost and the tablet is rendered useless unless a reboot is done.
Using my mobile not on HyperOS 2, you notice the difference immediately.
So in a way I’m happy for the pause in updates, so that I could enjoy my OS as it still is on my phone.
I was hoping a hyperos update for redmi note 10 pro global, please xiaomi developers hear our prayers. our phone is still good.
Since I updated my Poco M6 Pro it’s running bad. There’s been screen flashing oping apps sometimes I can’t activate the navigate buttons and some websites at the same time. Just weird bugs! Not very impressed with 2.0
