Xiaomi will now release updates much faster, policy has changed

Wang Le, director of the Application Software Department of Xiaomi, said in Weibo that Xiaomi HyperOS release is continuously optimizing, and will be higher in frequency so as to provide global users with more timely updates and function addition.

Global OTA Efficiency

1.  Xiaomi released 321 full-volume OTA updates worldwide on December 2024.
2. This is an average of 11.88 updates per day-a good landmark in the journey toward better release efficiency.

Monthly Update Commitment

1. In theory, a new update for each Xiaomi model will be released every month.
2. A device has not been updated in 60 days: in which case, Wang Le may be directly approached with such issues.

Focus of Updates

1.  Starting with HyperOS 2, updates will be released which will not be limited to bug fixes alone but will include the following: New features. Product function iterations.
2. Usability improvements. AI improvements and cross-ecological connectivity.

Upgradation Plan 1+3+8

Zhang Guoquan, Director of Xiaomi’s Mobile Phone System Software Department, once elaborated in detail on the supplementary “1+3+8” upgrade strategy behind the monthly update schedule:

• 1 Major Version Update: Most significant OS updates; include big improvements to the system.
• 3 Feature OTAs: New features being introduced and existing ones being enhanced.
• 8 Problem Fix OTAs: Bug fixes and system stability.

This increased focus on frequent releases underlines Xiaomi’s determination to provide the best and most feature-packed user experience with HyperOS, probably making it one of the leaders in the mobile operating system race.
