On rumors about large-scale layoffs from the company, Wang Hua, General Manager of Xiaomi Group’s Public Relations Department, has officially responded in a straightforward and emphatic way to defuse such rumors as groundless and illogical.
Wang Hua slammed the sensationalism of such reports, adding that they lacked any shred of credibility. He identified the logical fallacy of the rumors, saying:
“A company of the size of 6,000 employees, 3,500, less than 10%, and 20% of the total should not need to report to the relevant departments first? Doesn’t it lack a little bit of common sense? Wang Hua further denied that Xiaomi would lay off employees right before fiscal year-end bonuses, underlining the very poor understanding of fiscal cycles by the rumor creators:
“The funniest one is, ‘There’s only one month left before the payment of the year-end bonus.’ This person must not know what a fiscal year is!”
On another issue, Wang Hua came out hard against anonymous accusations on workplace software platforms, saying anonymity doesn’t protect against invisibility.
Xiaomi’s Standpoint
This is well in line with Xiaomi’s open attitude regarding transparency and its employees. Still at the pinnacle of its strength in the tech world, it remains committed to innovation and development rather than mere rumors that might bring it down. These statements pinpoint the need to rely on credible information channels and the resilience of Xiaomi against unfounded speculations with the aim of tarnishing its reputation.
