Xiaomi December Event Postponed: No Press Conference This Month

It will have to wait longer for a new product launch by the Redmi brand in December, as fans have long wished for one from Xiaomi. Wang Teng, the Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Department of Xiaomi China and General Manager of the Redmi brand, revealed on Weibo not so long ago that their last “homework” teased for December under the keyword “Little Cyclone” has been delayed.

“Little Cyclone” Plans Changed

On December 6th, Wang Teng shared the first teaser video without giving any hint about what or if it is an upcoming launch, labeled only as their “last homework” of the year. The keyword “Little Cyclone” sparked a wild guess from fans and analysts, referring to the fact that there should be a new device with the Redmi lineup.

However, Wang Teng took to the comments section of his Weibo post on December 13 to explain that plans for the December release have changed. PR General Manager at Xiaomi, Wang Hua, also confirmed in the same thread that there will not be any press conference this month. That means the expected Redmi product launch has been postponed to an as-yet-undisclosed date.

What might a “Little Cyclone” refer to?

While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed what “Little Cyclone” refers to, speculation is that it could be a new Redmi device, possibly a sequel to the recently launched Redmi Note 14 series or a completely new product. The mysterious teaser created excitement within Xiaomi’s community, but the delay has now raised curiosity about what changes in the company’s roadmap have occurred.

No Launch in December: What’s Next?

With no press conference scheduled for December, it seems that Xiaomi shifts its attention to early 2025. This also would agree with earlier reports that the Redmi Note 14 4G and Pro 4G variants will be launched globally early next year. Also, Xiaomi might save the big announcements for the Redmi K70 series launch in January 2025, which already has some hype.

So, all hype created by the “Little Cyclone” teaser seemed to be in vain when, in December, Xiaomi finally delayed its final launch. The actual reasons behind such a delay remain unclarified, but this surely hinted at a strategic reshuffling of the launch calendar for the company. As time unfolds, more will be shared when Xiaomi readies for an action-packed 2025, packed with new product launches and innovations. Stay tuned for more on Xiaomi’s updated plans for the “Little Cyclone” and beyond!

“little cyclone” is definitely refer to Redmi Turbo series as “cyclone” in mandarin is also mean “turbo speed”. So it is Redmi Turbo 4.
