Lei Jun reveals naming simplicity underlying Xiaomi’s YU7 SUV

Since Xiaomi showcased its first SUV model, the YU7, it has been the talk of the internet. There have been a lot of speculations regarding its unique name since the showcase. Today, Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, responded to the queries on Weibo by stating that the pronunciation of YU7 is simply “YU-7” .

Simplicity in Naming

Lei Jun explained, * “Many people ask how to pronounce YU7? Just go directly to YU-7.” Further, he said that Xiaomi is planning to disclose the reason for such a name during the official release of the vehicle.

This is according to the naming convention of Xiaomi’s previous model, the SU7, pronounced as “Su 7”. But the difference in the two names tells a story, which is not revealed.

Launch and Pricing

The Xiaomi YU7 SUV will officially enter the market next year in June-July after a very long time of road tests and final tuning. Regarding its cost, prices are yet to be confirmed, though the base price of the SU7, where this SUV evolves from, goes from RMB 215,900 to 299,900. Combining this with great performance, killer design, and an unbeatable price tag, this YU7 is undoubtedly going to be a sure and hot runner among electric SUVs. Much about the vehicle and the nomenclature is yet to come in the upcoming months.
