Recently, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, conducted an interactive session with students in the class of Lei Jun class, School of Computer Science of the Wuhan University. It was held at the technology park of Xiaomi. At the meeting, Lei Jun showed strong attachment to his alma mater, saying, “In my heart, Wuhan University is the best university in the world.” He said he felt highly honored and a great sense of responsibility at having a class named after him.

Lei Jun explained another motive in supporting the Lei jun Class:
- Personal Pride in Wuhan University: To Lei Jun, his university is the most excellent university.
- Opportunities in Computer Science: He went ahead and said that computer science happens to be an area in which incredible opportunities still abound for effectively changing the world in these modern times.
- Industry-Academy Synergy: Lei Jun believes the road that involves industry, academia, and research together will help attain fast movement in technologies, which can give a tough industrial base to China.
He encouraged students to “seize the opportunities of the times” and be like a sponge in this university to absorb the greatest amount of knowledge while studying in universities, thus encouraging them to work hard toward opening up their horizons.
About Lei Jun Class
Lei Jun Class is a major innovation undertaken by Wuhan University in the year 2024, for training innovative leaders in the field of computer science. The elite class, under the support of Lei Jun, selects 30 excellent students every year; one-half of them are enrolled in the college entrance examination, and the other half are selected from freshmen.
