Xiaomi 15 series official introduction video published, watch now

Recently, Cici Wei, the product manager at Xiaomi, shared a 1-minute video of the new Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. Based on this video, Wei revealed some key design elements in the latest flagships of Xiaomi.-calendar quad-curved display, slim bezels, and Leica-tuned cameras are among the major ones.

Key Features: Xiaomi 15

  • Display: The Xiaomi 15 comes with a 6.36-inch flat AMOLED display and ultra-thin 1.38mm bezels symmetrically distributed into all sides to make the phone sleek and meanwhile ensure a bigger display-to-body ratio.
  • Camera: It includes great cameras on the Xiaomi 15, using advanced sensors. It has a main camera with an aperture from f/1.62 to f/2.2 and focal lengths from 14mm to 60mm. The telephoto camera comes fitted with a Samsung JN1 sensor, offering 60mm focal length with f/2.2 aperture for detailed zoom shots.
  • Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor: Xiaomi has included an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that allows for quicker and more precise unlocking. The company says that unlocking was accelerated by 25% with the screen on and by 50% with the screen off. The sensor is positioned in what’s described as the “golden fingerprint position” for convenient access to it.
  • Performance: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, the Xiaomi 15 is optimized for high performance, with energy efficiency improved by 25% and a 40% boost to CPU and GPU.

Xiaomi 15 Pro: Additional Features

  • Micro Quad-Curved Display: The Xiaomi 15 Pro has a Quad-curved AMOLED display that adds more feel and premium factor to the device. Thus, because of it, the smoothness on the screen-frame transition has improved for perfect viewing motivation.
  • Xiaomi Longjing Glass: The display of the Xiaomi 15 Pro is protected by the second generation Xiaomi Longjing Glass, which offers better scratch and drop resistance.
  • Slim Profile: Measuring only 8.35mm thick and weighing a mere 213g, holding and using the Xiaomi 15 Pro becomes pretty comfortable; it does not sacrifice its premium look for that comfort.

Limited Availability

Unfortunately, the hopefully soon-to-launch Xiaomi 15 Pro will be made available only in China and won’t hit the shelves for the global market, news that might disappoint international Xiaomi fans.

Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0

The Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are both powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0, with a should be fine-tuned build for smoother performance and amplified AI. The system kernel, HyperCore, has been fully renewed. Meanwhile, it is the place of HyperConnect that introduces evolved connection capabilities, while the HyperAI infrastructure has been upgraded, placing these devices among the most advanced in AI-powered mobile experience. Currently, these devices are available for pre-order in China, while the official details on a release are expected at Xiaomi’s launch event on October 29, 2024.
