According to Lu Weibing, partner and president of the Xiaomi Group and head of the mobile phone business department, this new sensor can increase the speed of unlocking several times.
As Lu explains, the screen-on unlocking has become 25% faster, while the screen-off one is fast as 50% quicker. The fingerprint recognition area occupies what is described as the “golden fingerprint position” for superior ease of use and ergonomics. For this level, the feature should seamlessly serve the users by availing them with quick and secure access to their devices.
Display and Design Innovations
The Xiaomi 15 features a 6.36-inch straight display that boasts of carrying ultra-narrow bezels, measuring as minute as 1.38mm on all sides. This design really improves the visual experience, offering a near edge-to-edge display that feels immersive and premium.
Another striking design feature is the middle frame with curves wrapped around it four times, made from one-piece aviation aluminum. Further, this construction endows the phone with a fashionable look and, at the same time, makes it durable. At the back, the Xiaomi 15 features an elegant “crater” lens design using integrated cold sculpture technology, which gives it an amazing aesthetic feeling without losing functionality for the camera system.

The Xiaomi 15 series, together with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, will officially go on mass sale at 19:00 on October 29, 2024.
