The highly awaited HyperOS 2 from Xiaomi is supposed to create a storm in the world of technology with major leaps in AI and system architecture. Weeks before its rollout, Xiaomi’s official Weibo account teased some major updates and changes coming with this new operating system, except for its launch date, which falls on October 29, 2024, together with Xiaomi 15 series and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
Major Improvements in HyperOS 2
- Refreshed Kernel of the HyperCore System Probably the most important change in HyperOS 2, besides those mentioned, is the complete renovation of the kernel known as the Xiaomi Pengpai System Kernel-internally codenamed HyperCore**. Since this is a base-level component, smooth usability and performance are critical in Xiaomi devices. Therefore, with the help of HyperCore 2.0, users will be able to enjoy faster processing, smoother multitasking, and generally better performance of the operating device.
- Meta Enhanced HyperConnect Architecture: The other major component of the system is the HyperConnect architecture, accentuating smart connectivity between devices. In HyperOS 2, it has reached its new level and provided better integration within the device ecosystem of Xiaomi by letting smartphones, tablets, wearables, and smart home devices communicate in a more intuitive and efficient way.
- Improved HyperAI Intelligence: But probably the most exciting part of the new HyperOS 2 is the improved infrastructure of HyperAI, which is Xiaomi’s next big step in AI integration. HyperAI is basically the system-level AI backbone of HyperOS, and with the latest release, it shall offer wiser and adaptive capabilities to end users. Whether this is about powering device performance depending on usage patterns, perfecting the AI-driven edit for images and videos, or delivering personalized content, AI abilities are expected to get much stronger and intuitive.
A Step Towards Full AI Ecosystem
Its message is clear: for Xiaomi, the vision of HyperOS 2 is not about optimizing the software alone but creating an entirely new artificial intelligence ecosystem. This update has been promoted in the official promotional materials as “a solid step toward the full AI ecosystem” that reinforces several ways in which AI is being deployed to make interactions with Xiaomi devices smarter, faster, and seamless.
Lu Weibing’s Plan for HyperOS 2
Lu Weibing, President of the Xiaomi Group, has been rather vocal about the route the company is taking with regard to the AIOS, or Artificial Intelligence Operating System. He has been posting recently that what we have right now as AI phones are no more than AI Feature Phones, offering some AI capability but allegedly much far from an integrated AI system. This is according to Lu, while he turns around and says that this HyperOS 2 is the first true basis on which to develop an AI-based operating system-a mission that Xiaomi is keen to lead.
But at one Double 11 launch ceremony just lately, Lu was confident enough to say: “As the president of Xiaomi’s mobile phone department, I promise everyone that HyperOS will definitely work this time.” That shows just how confident Xiaomi is in the future of AI-powered phones and how important HyperOS will be in implementing that.
Cici Lao Wei’s Views on HyperOS 2
Also joining in chorus with a teaser, @Cici_老魏 is Xiaomi’s Mobile Phone Marketing General Manager, referring to HyperOS 2 as “smooth at the first glance, new at the first glance“, developing the ideas of enhanced user experience Xiaomi is trying to get across-smooth animations, seamless performance, and fresh, modern interface.
Interest is great because, on October 29, HyperOS 2 will officially debut as a “new starting point,” according to Xiaomi. A simultaneous launch of the smartphones of the Xiaomi 15 series and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra raises expectations even higher because these models promise to show all the potential of HyperOS 2. This launch will be a very critical point for Xiaomi within a competitive smartphone world, which makes it try distinguishing itself through an unrivaled operating system, tipping its hat to artificial intelligence as a great friend for smarter and more efficient user experiences. If the company does what it has promised, HyperOS 2 will stand for the biggest jump in the evolution of mobile operating systems. As per Xiaomi, watch this space for the unveiling of what lies in store with HyperOS 2 on 29 October.

Does it arrive on xiaomi redmi note 13 + pro 5G?
New kernel??!! Are they ditching Android? Will Play Store apps stop working?
This article has no information, just marketing fluff. If there is no more compatibility with Android apps, I’m looking for a new brand. I had already reluctantly stopped recommending Xiaomi to friends and family when bootloader unlocking was prohibited, but this makes it a no-brainer.
