Checking HyperOS Version Number
Other information that the new version number of Xiaomi’s HyperOS provides is that of the phone’s region. The format of the version number looks something like this: “OS1.0.6.0.UKWEUXM”. To determine the region, just pay attention to the two letters just before “XM”. In this example, “EU” it means it is for the European Union. Should it be “CN”, this would mean that the phone is a Chinese version. Other codes like “IN” represent India, and “RU” represents Russia.
Check the Model Number under “About Phone”
Another way to find out the origin of your phone is to look at the model number in “About Phone” on your Xiaomi device. The last character of the model number will point out the region:
- C: Chinese Version
- G: Global Version
- I: Indian Version
- Y: International/Global Version
- J: Japan
In case your model number, for example, ends with “C”, it will mean that the device is a Chinese version, whereas “G” would be a Global version.
Check the Device using IMEI or Serial Number
Xiaomi does have an online tool where you can check the region of your device using either the IMEI or serial number. You can enter information about your device to see whether it is Global or Chinese. Access it from the official Xiaomi website at the link below:
