Xiaomi App Store announces application for new filing sandard to fit MIIT rgulations

Today, the Xiaomi App Store announced on its official website some “App Filing Standard Changes” with reference to “Notice of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on the Implementation of Mobile Internet Application Filing Work.” All these go toward further protection of the rights of users and the creation of a better experience for all with the stricture of rules in the listing and operation of the applications.

Key Requirements

The announcement said it would be compulsive for all apps submitted to the Xiaomi App Store from November 1, 2024, to do new filing. Events such as the app sponsor, app name, and app package name must be consistent with the government filing system. In case an app does not meet such requirements, they are prohibited from carrying out Internet information service business within China. The apps already running and have not complied with the filing procedure are expected to adhere to the regulations or be removed from the platform.

Timeline and Compliance

The announcement was made on October 9, 2024, with a public notice period of 24 days. During this time, the current standards remain in effect to allow developers to get accustomed to the new law well in advance of the official enforcement date. This is because, in August 2023, a notice was given by MIIT that all app developers would be given a transition period of 10 months to meet the fresh filing conditions.

Thus, the apps were supposed to finish their filling process with different provincial communications administration bureaus this March 2024. Coming with new standards, all apps will be enforced to change and enrich oversight in the mobile internet application space.

What This Means for Developers

Accordingly, developers whose applications are offered in the Xiaomi App Store have to ensure that their applications are filed with regard to the new standards laid down by MIIT. This, of course, means being confirmed that the app sponsor and package name are appropriately filed and consistent with the filing system. Applications failing to meet the new requirements will be removed or suspended if failing to comply with the new standards by November 2024.

The move underlines Xiaomi’s commitment to increased app safety, security, and user confidence in its ecosystem. This full announcement should be reviewed by developers and app sponsors who should take any necessary steps well in advance of these new filing standards going into effect.
