Lu Weibing announces Hu Xinxin to Redmi product manager

Today, Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group, the general manager of the Xiaomi brand, announced on Weibo that Hu Xinxin has officially moved to join the Redmi team to take up the role of Redmi Product Manager. Until today, Hu Xinxin was the Civi product manager, a role she had been recognized for in Xiaomi’s innovative line of smartphones.

This leadership change, however, is part of the continuous internal job rotation system within Xiaomi, which has, interestingly enough, been inculcated into its culture for growth and skill development of the employees. According to Lu Weibing, Xiaomi believes in job rotation as a system and culture, and we encourage all colleagues to broaden their horizons and continue to temper themselves in more positions.

Many colleagues have gained wonderful growth from job rotation.

Xiaomi’s Growth Strategy by Job Rotation

Xiaomi places greater emphasis on internal job rotation compared to others in the same industry so that employees will develop their skills in several business areas and functions of the company. Since there are people with broader skill sets, several new dimensions of the business can come to light. This could accelerate the growth of the individuals along with improving the agility of the whole company in responding to market trends and business challenges.

Apart from transferring Hu Xinxin, Wei Siqi, who is the other high-profile figure within Xiaomi, is also being exploited. According to reports, Wei Siqi dedicates herself to Xiaomi’s mobile phone business, but in fact, she has been taking root in Xiaomi’s automotive market.

Last year, she was part of the launch of Xiaomi SU7, and today she carries the dual responsibilities of General Manager of Xiaomi Mobile Phone Marketing Department and Deputy General Manager of Xiaomi Automobile Marketing Department.

Hu Xinxin’s New Role and What to Expect

Now that Hu Xinxin has taken over the reins at Redmi, coming from experience with handling Xiaomi’s Civi series, known for their svelte designs and finesse toward the end-user experience, she is all set to shape the future product roadmap of Redmi. Given this background, the transition to Redmi may just bring in fresh innovative insights to the conventionally perceived value-for-money Android smartphones offered by the brand.

That’s been a continuous strategic move by the company to shake up the internals, and meanwhile, get ready for future products. In the same vein, the fans and all people who keep an eye out are just excited to see what changes Hu Xinxin’s leadership would bring inside Redmi and make use of the job rotation system of Xiaomi for success in the mobile business and automobiles. More will follow from Xiaomi once leadership teams have been set in place and when they are closer to launching the products.
