Lei Jun: Congratulation to Dongfeng Motor Corporation

On September 17, Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, chairman, and CEO, congratulated Dongfeng Motor on Weibo for producing its 60 millionth unit. Besides congratulations, Lei Jun offered greetings for the successful launch of the new Lantu Dreamer MPV model.

Xiaomi’s Ambition in the Car Industry

In the post, Lei Jun made clear that Xiaomi is still a rookie in the NEV sector. Lei addressed Dongfeng as “big brother” in the car sector, stressing that Xiaomi needed to learn from Dongfeng and hoped the two sides would have deeper cooperation in the future.
Xiaomi has been gradually making its move into the NEV market, and collaborations with established carmakers like Dongfeng would provide the know-how and support the tech giant needs when it is trying to expand its footprint in the EV space.

Diankun Intelligent Driving and Hongmeng Cockpit from Huawei Overview Strong Performance of Dongfeng Motor

Dongfeng Motor has announced robust growth in 2023, with cumulative sales reaching 1.5828 million units from January to August, up 8.7% year-on-year. All these efforts underpin the company’s strength and continuous innovation in the automotive sector, especially as it delves deeper into the world of NEVs and smart vehicles. The more footholds Xiaomi receives in the electric vehicle market, the more one wonders how much its relationship with already-established players-like the case with Dongfeng Motor-actually defines future success.
