Popular 11 Xiaomi devices will never got new updates

At a very critical development, the EOS LIST of Xiaomi revealed that the giant in technology would be dropping updates for a number of smartphone models released under the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands’ portfolio. This directly affects users in a number of regions, for which routine updates go rather essential in the features and security directions of the tool.

Final Update and Future Implications

Interestingly, all of the devices stopped at the HyperOS 1.0 update got the update in exchange—one that is based on Android 13, to clarify. However, they will also not upgrade to Android 14 and  HyperOS 2.0 update. This really makes a world of difference in the grander picture of the lifecycle support for these models as well, other than the fact that it just simply does not leave these devices on old software (MIUI 14), but better yet updates them to a relatively recent OS until the rug was pulled under for this.

Impacted Models and Regions

Now, Xiaomi Releases the Statement That the System Update Has Ended for the Following Models:

Xiaomi

  1. Xiaomi 10S: In this case, it will no longer receive system updates after this; this is the case in the China region.
  2. Xiaomi 10 Pro: There are many flagships in the regions for this model, with no further updates, either in the EEA, Global, or Chinese markets.
  3. Xiaomi 10: A favorite product globally, now losing its support in updates within Turkey (TR), Indonesia (ID), European Economic Area (EEA), India (IN), English-speaking regions only (EN), Global, and China (CN).
  4. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra: A premium high-end model that drew a lot of liking in China and is now literally on the verge of its update lifecycle.
  5. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G: Stylish throughout Japan for the 5G feature, updates will cease with it.

Redmi

  • Redmi Note 10 Pro
  • Redmi Note 10
  • Redmi Note 10 5G
  • Redmi Note 10T
  • Redmi Note 8 (2021)

POCO

  • POCO M3 Pro 5G: The model is considered budget with 5G support and reached an end to update in English-speaking regions, as well as in Turkey.

Implications for Users

The end of system updates means these models will not receive at all the boosted functionalities from the latest Android OS updates, not to speak of security patches or new functions introduced by Google. Given a major security vulnerability, development could affect the user experience with these devices and expose target risks and exposure to bigger security vulnerabilities.

Though the last update of HyperOS 1.0 and Android 13 guarantees for devices not lying in the past, for update dependability, the realization by users that the Hyperplus 2 version of technology would be more sustainable than having just a HyperOS 1.0 would probably be disappointing.

Customer and Community Feedback

The issue has fueled mixed reactions among user communities of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. Many of them feel disappointed, more so the ones who recently purchased devices now listed in the EOS LIST. A growing concern also rises on some of the devices, coupled with the risk they might face using obsolete software.

Positioning of Xiaomi

Xiaomi has indicated that its decision is normal for product life cycle management. The company highlights that although end of system updates are coming in soon, it shall give needed securities update within a small window frame when users are not immediately at risk to such security issues.

Please stay tuned to Xiaomi’s official announcements for further changes or updates. Also, the tech community often remedies this problem by putting together custom ROMs and unsupported patches, but that comes, of course, at a significant level of risk and hassle and ought to be done very carefully.

The termination of updates for those Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices is therefore effectively ringing the bell on the countless global populations who relied on them. That is a precedent many are likely to follow, so now is the moment that users should really be thinking about what it means for them and what they can do to either mitigate threats or make transition plans for their organization. It is recommended to visit the official website of Xiaomi or get in touch with their consumer service to obtain the most recent updates.

Since that’s how…, I bought a Redmi 10 5g about 4 years ago, then a second one for my wife a year ago… Needless to say, I’ll be switching brands. If a company like Xiaomi can’t follow up, they don’t need customers to follow them. What’s it going to be like for their cars… Once bought, the customer will just have to hope because they will play the same way.
Too bad, you had a loyal customer base with the redmi 7, then 8 and 10. No more… The honor of abandoning your customers falls to you.

They promised to give Hyper OS updates for the Mi 11 line series but they dropped Mi 11 Lite 5g like that lol. They didn’t even bother to fix the oldest bugs. So HyperOS was just an unreachable dream for my phone lol

I bought a POCO F3 less than 3 years ago and now you’re telling me it’s not going to receive future updates? HyperOS is crap anyway, what’s in a name? The phone works just as well with MIUI as it does with HyperOS it’s just cosmetic changes. My next phone will not have anything to do with Xiaomi.
