9 Android 16 features we want to see in HyperOS 3

Android 16 is officially out in the wild, and the buzz around its advanced features is well deserved. For Xiaomi users, this means HyperOS 3 is about to get a serious upgrade. Xiaomi has consistently leveraged the best of Android’s ecosystem—HyperOS 1 built on Android 14, HyperOS 2 on 15—so it’s only natural that HyperOS 3 will raise the bar by integrating Android 16’s headline enhancements. We’re looking at real improvements to productivity, security, and overall experience across the Xiaomi lineup.

Security and Productivity Redefined

Android 16 rolls out Advanced Protection, Google’s most robust mobile security suite to date. This will deliver Xiaomi users cutting-edge defense against malware, malicious apps, and fraudulent calls—essential in today’s digital landscape. The new Safety Check feature adds another layer, allowing scheduled check-ins with emergency contacts, providing peace of mind for users and their families.

Enhanced Communication with Emoji Kitchen

Emoji Kitchen, integrated via Gboard, brings a creative edge to digital communication. This tool lets users blend emojis into custom animated stickers, elevating personal expression and engagement in messaging. Custom visuals aren’t just fun—they drive interaction and brand personality.

Streamlined Notification Management

Android 16 introduces smarter notification grouping, reducing clutter and boosting efficiency. Live delivery updates mean users are kept informed about orders—pizza, parcels, you name it—without having to jump between apps. This translates to fewer distractions and improved workflow.

Smarter AI Image Editing

Google Photos steps up with AI-powered editing tools. With new suggestions, the Reimagine function, and Auto Frame cropping, users can quickly enhance images with intuitive gestures. The process is faster and more precise, ideal for professionals and content creators on the go.

True Multitasking for Tablets

Xiaomi Pad users will benefit from real desktop-style multitasking: multiple app windows, movable and resizable, maximizing productivity on larger screens. This feature is essential for business users and multitaskers who demand flexibility from their devices.

Personally I just like MIUI better. The option to resize icons. The option to select between the old and new control panel.

I’m still mad at how Xiaomi Pad 6 won’t be receiving the HyperOS 3.
